Tonight the Ottawa Senators are beginning a four game road trip, and will be matching up with the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center. Both teams have been equally bad to start the season, with this line hovering around -110 on both sides. But the total is set at 6.0 in this game, and I think their is an angle for the over here.

So far this season, the Sharks haven't been able to stop anybody at home, they are allowing 3.8 goals per 60. But at the same time, the Sharks have gone over their team total in seven of their last 10 games at home. On the Senators side, they have allowed 3.95 expected goals per 60 on the road this season, which is the third most in the NHL, and have actually allowed 3.46 goals per 60 away from home.

I am writing this overnight and the goaltending situation is pretty much unknown, but I find the Sharks situation getting to an interesting point. If Reimer were to start it would be his sixth start in 10 days. In these past five starts, the Sharks games have gone, 3-2 to the over, and Reimer had to make 42 saves his last time out in a 2-1 loss, talk about disheartening. In an ideal world, the Sharks start Kaapo Kahkonen who has a -3.62 goals saved above expected through six starts this season.

The Senators goaltending situation is unknown as well, but without Thomas Chabot the Ottawa Senators defensive core is fairly week, and have allowed the fifth most goals on high danger chances per 60 minutes this season. On top of that, they can't stay out of the penalty box, having their penalty kill average the third most time on ice per game played.

The Sharks are 4-1 to the over, in their last five games at home, and the Senators are 3-2 to the over in their last five on the road, and are a very hit and miss team, luckily they missed last game, and they are looking to bounce back after getting blown out by New Jersey. Neither team has been able to stop any one this year in their respective home and road split. I think were going to see lots of good scoring chances in this one.
