Tonight the Seattle Mariners and the Oakland Athletics will be opening up a series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The Athletics continue to be the worst team in baseball, and tonight they will be sending Kyle Muller to the mound who has a 7.71 ERA with a 7.57 xERA so far this season.

Muller matching up with Seattle is interesting, Seattle has been a bottom five statistical offence against left handed pitching this season, but Muller has also given up four or more runs in six of his last seven starts.

Seeing how bad Muller has been, but also knowing how bad the Mariners have been against left handed pitching had me conflicted, because I love to fade this guy, but I don't know how many runs to expect in a matchup like this, but I do think the Mariners will be able to put up a bunch of competitive at-bats in this one.

Official Pick: Kyle Muller Under 15.5 Outs (-125) @ Bet365

Muller really struggles commanding his pitches and keeping hitters off balance, he ranks in the 29th percentile in BB%, while also ranking in the 19th percentile in chase rate and 17th percentile in whiff%. To counter this, the Seattle Mariners have seen the fifth most pitches per plate appearance this season, and should be able to drive Muller's pitch count up.

The Mariners have struggled to put the ball in play vs left handed pitching this season, having the third highest strikeout percentage in that split. However, I don't think the Mariners have to chase Muller early for this bet to cash. Let me explain...

Let's just say Muller somehow keeps the A's in the game, I still don't think Muller is going deep in into this one. The A's have gotten four straight starts of five innings or more, and should have some rested arms in the bullpen. On top of that, when facing the batting order for the third time around this season, Muller has a 24.16 ERA.

I think we have multiple ways to win this bet, whether the Mariners jump on Muller, or they are just able to run up his pitch count. I think the A's manager is going to have to give him the yank before he records an out in the sixth inning.
