Tonight the Arizona Coyotes will make the short trip across state lines to Vegas for a game against the Golden Knights tonight, and a trend I have been following since last season, is targeting defensemen against the Arizona Coyotes, and recently, it seems like the Golden Knights are trying to get their blue line more involved in the offence.

On the year the Arizona Coyotes are allowing 33.18 shots per game, and allowing the third most shots to defensemen per game. The Golden Knights have two defensemen that have seen an increase in volume over the last week, and I am going to target both of them and see if they can't continue this run.

Alex Pietrangelo Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-120) @ DraftKings Sportsbook

Pietrangelo has been playing on the top two pairing and quarterbacking the first powerplay unit for the Vegas Golden Knights. To start the season he was very inconsistent covering this line. However, in his past five games he has averaged 6.0 shot attempts per game and has eight or more shot attempts in each of the last two games.

Coinciding with this volume increase, Pietrangelo has ended up covering this 2.5 line in three straight games. Pietrangelo only covered in one of the three games vs Arizona last season, but still averaged 6.3 shot attempts in those games, I am going to hope this trend of volume continues, and gamble on the over here.

Shae Theodore Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (-125) @ NorthStar Bets

This is a very similar handicap to the Pietrangelo play above. Theodore has seen a volume increase over the past week, and is now averaging 5.6 shot attempts over his last 5 games, and has covered in his last two games having four or more shots in both games.

Last year against the Coyotes, Theodore covered in two of the three games these two teams played, and averaged 6.3 shot attempts per game in those contests, while having six attempts in the only game he didn't cover against the Coyotes.

I am fully banking on the Vegas Golden Knights to dominate the puck and the offensive zone in this game, as they have done in this matchup historically winning seven of the last 10 matchups. I like both of these guys to go over their totals as the Vegas Golden Knight's continue to work their blueline into the offence.
