Toronto Blue Jays @ Oakland Athletics - Over 8.5 (-115) - Risk: 1.00u

The Blue Jays have looked flat and lifeless since the unfortunate passing of first base coach Mark Budzinski's 17-year-old daughter. The players have been truly shaken up, but as time goes on, I think the Jays are going to do something special as a tribute.

Tonight, the Athletics will be sending Adrian Martinez to the mound to make his third career start. Martinez through a scoreless 5.1 innings in his MLB debut, but that was against the Detroit Tigers, but as soon as there was tape on him, the Seattle Mariners lit him up for 7 runs on 7 hits, giving up 2 home runs through 4.2 innings pitched.

The Blue Jays' offense has cooled off over the past few days, but they are due to break out. Martinez has thrown a lot of hittable pitches in his first two career starts, and I think the Blue Jays are due to breakout.

Not to mention, the Blue Jays' troubles on the mound recently. They have allowed 5+ runs in 4 games straight, and tonight Yusei Kikuchi will be on the mound. Kikuchi struggles with his control ranking in the 8th percentile in BB%, Oakland struggles scoring runs in general, but are riding high off of winning a game against Alek Manoah. Kikuchi is coming off of arguably his best start of the year, but still had a 7.17 ERA in June and a 5.04 ERA on the road this season.

The Oakland Coliseum is a pitchers park, but the wind will be blowing out to center field tonight. I think the Jays are due for an offensive explosion, but it is nice of having the safety net of Kikuchi on the mound.
