Some picks are feel picks.  You watch enough baseball and you have an idea of how some guys will react.  Max Scherzer did not want to get pulled from the wild card game.  Despite all his struggles he still only gave up 1 run and helped his team move on.  He gets the ball again tonight, at home against their rival giants. Scherzer is going to come out slinging tonight and cruise to double digit strikeouts.  For the second pick I will take Max Scherzer over 7.5 Ks -115.

Scherzer had 112 Ks in 85 innings at home this year and that doesn't take into account that he got better once he got traded to LA.   On the year he averaged about 1.25 Ks per inning, meaning to get to the 8 number he will need to pitch about 6 innings, maybe into the 7th.  I think he gets in done in the 5th or 6th but if he goes into the 7th he's almost certainly to go over.  To that end, lets look at his opponent.

He's facing a Giants team that he has dominated. The Giants have hit .173 off him with 44ks in 110 at bats (this is before I know the starting lineup) striking out 40% of the time.  I dont see the Giants being able to hit him hard tonight to knock him out of the game and I think Max is motivated. If he goes 7 he should get 8 Ks -- I think he hits double digits in Ks but I certainly like him over 7.5 at -115.
