My fourth pick in this week's LIIC is the Padres to cover the spread in tonight's game at home against the Diamondbacks. The Padres took a tough loss last night against the D-backs, losing 8-5 so I expect them to bounce back with a bit of fire tonight. The chart below shows the total runs scored in each game by the Padres when they play the Diamondbacks this season (excluding last night's total of five runs).
Now my evidence here is a bit shaky, or maybe boom or bust is a better way to explain it, but the Padres have erupted for double digit run totals in two games against the D-backs this season. I'm relying on the bats to explode again against a weak Arizona squad. The Padres haven't necessarily dominated the Diamondbacks this year by any means, but San Diego is undoubtedly the better team that has shown they're capable of putting up big numbers on the scoreboard.
On a side note, I also love Yu Darvish pitching for the Padres tonight. While is record only sits at 7-6, I still believe that he's a dominant pitcher in this league who can hold the Diamondbacks to little to no runs tonight.
