The Yankees trade deadline acquisitions have certainly been paying off through their first series. The Yanks decided to be buyers this year, trading for first baseman Anthony Rizzo and outfielder Joey Gallo from the Cubs and Rangers respectively. While one could argue pitching was more of a need for the Yankees at the deadline, the bats were definitely an issue that needed to be addressed.

Rizzo and Gallo are not only guys who have some serious pop in their swings, but both bat from the left side, making them perfect home run hitters at Yankee Stadium. While they haven’t played their first home game there yet, the newbies should love the short porch in right field as they hope to power the Yankees offense to some victories.

Below are Rizzo's and Gallo's average RBIs and at-bats for this season.

Anthony Rizzo has already started to make his mark for New York down in Miami this past weekend. He’s hitting .556 with two home runs, five hits, five runs, and three RBIs through three games as a Yankee. He batted in or scored the game tying or leading run on multiple occasions, showing himself to be a clutch bat for the Bombers already.

Below are Gallo's and Rizzo's RBI trends for this season.

As for Gallos he’s off to a bit of a slow start, but his batting average has never been the shining stat of his game. He’s at the top of the league in walks taken this season, and again, once he makes his Stadium debut that tremendous power should make its appearance. Gallo’s power also provides great protection for the other bats on the team. With Judge, Gallo, Rizzo, and Stanton all waiting in the middle of the order for the Yankees, there isn’t a batter you can pitch around. The protection in the heart of the order for the Yankees just got a lot stronger.

Both players are also terrific fielders, with Rizzo being a four time gold glove winner, while Gallo owns arguably the best arm in baseball. Rizzo also is one of the more durable players of baseball through the past decade, which is something that these star studded Yankee teams have struggled with for the past few years.

The Yanks managed to sweep the Marlins this weekend, making them 5-10 in series sweep opportunities this season. This series sweep should lead to some sort of confidence and momentum as the back half of the season continues. With Rizzo off to a hot start, hopefully Gallo and the rest of the squad can follow his lead to power this team to the playoffs. The Yankees face the Orioles tonight in the Bronx, who are a premium target to win some more games against this week. They may need a little bit of luck, but the Yankees playoff hopes are certainly alive and well.
