Staying away from the Bills-Jets MNF game tonight, because if anything can be predicted based on week 1 of the NFL season this year, it’s that this game will be unpredictable. Which is why I’m attempting to predict something on the baseball side of things tonight. We have our tools, so let’s open the toolbox.

As I tend to do, I fired up my trusty Ballpark Pal to check out some park factors. Coors Field always shows up at the top of the model for runs and home runs, and today is no different. Tonight features the Cubs, so I thought I’d take a look up and down the Cubs lineup. I love taking “away” players when they visit parks with juicy forecasts, as the away side is always guaranteed to play all nine innings, regardless of score. That doesn’t mean that all the starters remain in the game, but it gives you your best shot to maximize plate appearances.

I’m going to single out Seiya Suzuki for today’s game. In his past 10 games, he’s recorded at least two total bases in eight of them. In the past five, he’s got 2+ total bases in four of them. Even if you go back through his past 30 games, he’s averaging 2.6 total bases per game, and is hitting the line in 70% of those 30 games.

What’s more, is Suzuki  has two previous plate appearances against projected Rockies pitcher, Kyle Freeland. In those two plate appearances, he’s got one hit, a double (and an RBI). Against lefties in general this season, he’s hitting at a healthy .287BA.

I like basing my batting props on park factors, so I was looking to target this game. There will be others that can get the job done, but my favorite to reach at least two total bases tonight is Seiya Suzuki.

As always, wait for lineups to be released before locking it in. Good luck on all your bets today!
