Gleyber Torres is the guy to zero in on today to register at least 2 Hits/Runs/RBI as the Yankees face the Detroit Tigers.

It’s the first day of the NFL season, so you know what that means. Betting on baseball!

Again, I love betting on the HRR prop. I don’t really tend to just check the recent history of a players hits/runs/RBI prop when I bet this, though. First, as per usual, I’ll take a look at Ballpark Pal and see which parks are expected to have a lot of runs. As expected, Yankee Stadium projects for an uptick in total runs, but *also* a huge uptick in home runs.

This doesn’t need to be said, but a home run would clearly take care of this bet in one swing.

In any case, here we have Gleyber Torres. Now, he’s got a hit in seven of his last 10 games, but more importantly, he’s got at least TWO hits in five of his last 10 games. Well well well. On top of all that, he’s also got at least one RBI in seven of his last 10 games. I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.

But wait, there’s more.

Detroit’s starting pitcher this evening is Eduardo Rodriguez. Torres has a .320 BA vs. Rodriguez, including three home runs and nine RBI!  How can you not take a swing at this one?

So, to sum it up: Yankee Stadium is projected to yield an above average number of runs (and home runs). Torres’ most recent 10 games includes a healthy amount of both hits and RBI (including half of those 10 games achieving two-hit outings). And finally, Torres has a successful history vs. Tigers starting pitcher, Rodriguez.

There’s no such thing as a lock, but this is my favorite play on today’s small slate, while a lot of attention is on the NFL machine. Good luck with all your plays today!
