Entree (1u) - Spencer Strider To Record A Win (-110 @ DraftKings)

Yesterday's article was over the most dominant pitcher in baseball and tonight's article is over the second most dominant pitcher in baseball, in my opinion. I love deGrom but the way Strider dominates the plate and forces batters to whiff is INSANE. Strider should dominate tonight versus the Cincinnati Reds in Atlanta. He has two starts this season and he's allowed 3 earned runs so far in those games versus the Nationals and Padres. Strider ranks among the best in strikeouts per inning, which he averages 1.54 and that's 99th percentile only behind last nights phenom, Shohei Ohtani. He's in the 94th percentile in swinging strike percentage and 83rd percentile in called strike plus whiff rate.

Strider should face a split Reds lineup with 5 righties and 4 lefties. Last season at home, he allowed a .205 batting average to lefties and a .147 batting average to lefties. He only allowed 3 home runs last season at home and all 3 were to righties. Reds rank 28th in weighted runs created and 27th in on-base percentage over their last 30 days. It's a small sample size but the Reds are only averaging 1.8 runs on the road in the first 5 innings. Last season, they were 8th in runs in the first 5 innings.

Strider throws 4-seam, slider, and changeup for the majority of his pitches. As many of you know, the off-speed pitch mix Strider uses is what leads to his high strikeout rates. He's recorded 9 strikeouts in his first two starts and the last time he faced the Reds, he struck out 11 batters. The Reds are 8th in strikeout percentage and many of these batters don't have any experience versus Strider, as this is his sophomore season. Guys like India and Fraley both have over 30% strikeout rate versus the slider and then Freidl, Fraley, and India are all above 25% strikeout rate versus the changeup last season. If you don't know, in order for Strider to record a win, the Braves need to be leading when he leaves the game and not lose that lead, plus he needs to pitch 5 innings. He pitched at least 6 innings in the first two games and this Reds team isn't scary enough to force the hand and pull out Strider before 5 innings.

Let me know what you think!
