Entrée (1u) - Shohei Ohtani (LAA) UNDER 4.5 Hits Allowed (-115 @ DraftKings)

Ohtani continues to prove to us all why he's the best player in baseball and why he's going to be a crazy headline after this season because he could potentially be on the move. I would love to see in a Cubs uniform but that's probably just a dream of mine. However, he's started off this season on fire. Coming off a World Baseball Classic championship and winning MVP for the game, he's started the year with 18 strikeouts in two games with only 5 hits allowed and 1 earned run. Angels struggled last night after the 3rd inning and fell to a defeat versus the Nationals. Tonight, they get their revenge with Ohtani on the mound and looking to do damage on offense.

Their is an advantage to the lineup the Nationals are putting out tonight but could also be a disadvantage. Only one of these players has appearances versus Ohtani when he is pitching. It's a young group of guys like CJ Abrams, Lane Thomas, Alex Call, and Joey Meneses that leads this Washington team. That one guy is Jeimer Candelario and he has 2 strikeouts in 9 plate appearances versus Ohtani with a .198 weighted on-base average. Not much to love there numbers wise but I'm always going to back the pitcher that has only allowed 5 hits in 2 starts and would have to allow 5 tonight to go over this number. Ohtani only allowed 4.3 hits per game last season and you've got the Nationals who were 21st in weighted runs created and 15th in on-base percentage, but that includes walks and hit by pitch, which isn't included in a hits prop. In the last 30 days, the Nationals are 26th in weighted runs created and 27th in on-base percentage.

Last season, Ohtani allowed a .188 batting average to righties and tonight he should face 5 lefties, where he allowed a .221 batting average. It's an advantage but a low number and not large enough for us to be worried. He's been dominate at home, only allowing a .200 batting average and a .237 weighted on-base average. Like mentioned before, this is Ohtani we are talking about and I'm always going to back him when he's facing new hitters. He didn't even average this amount of hits allowed last season and he's trending toward repeating that already this season!
