Are we serious with this one?? This line is ridiculous. You’re really missing out if you’re not backing Reaves tonight.
First of all this line is at 3.5 for even money at DraftKings. How? Just how?
Austin Reaves is 8 out the last 10 on this line. One of those misses was in a game vs MIN where he played just 21 minutes. When looking at games 25+ minutes, he’s consistently hitting this mark. The reason the last 10 games are more significant for Reaves is because Pat Bev was traded around that time. Since Pat Bev AND Westbrook have been gone, Reaves has really shown his effectiveness. And his usage has only gone up since then
Furthermore, the man had 5 assists this year against the Magic already. Normally this wouldn’t mean much. This time it does. The reason is because he had 5 assists on December 27th, with Pat Bev AND Russ, when he was barely being used in the offense. Oh yea, and he did it while Westbrook put up a triple double, with 13 ASSISTS IN JUST 29 MINUTES.
If you don’t know what this means…it means that Reaves somehow found 5 assists against the Magic as a backup with little usage while Westbrook had the ball almost the entire time that Reaves was in the floor.
If that’s not enough, how about the fact that the Magic actually play very good defense against guards. They allow the 3rd fewest PPG to the SG position, and they force the ball out of their hands. In the situations where Reaves is running point, that’s good for us too. Orlando allows the 5th most AST/G to point guards.
Maybe Reaves won’t be able to score as much tonight, but he will absolutely be able to find opportunities for his teammates. Good thing is, Reaves doesn’t care. He does not care if he scores, he’s playing to win the game each and every time he is on the floor, something that is desperately needed by the Lakers. Whether that means getting to the hoop and finishing, or finding scoring opportunities for teammates, he will do it. Luckily for us, today he will need to find scoring opportunities for teammates today. Go get this prop ASAP. I cannot imagine that this will be even money all the way up to tip-off. I’m projecting him at 5 AST tonight. This line is absurd. It makes zero sense and I’m not convinced that it was a misclick by the books. Lol.
I’d recommend checking FanDuel for some alternate assist lines. I’m projecting 5 but would not be surprised at all to see him reach the 6 or 7+ mark if the Lakers can make some shots tonight. Depending on which odds you get at the time you read this, it may be worth laddering his assists. Maybe even a little parlay with AD points, who could have a big game today. Just a thought.
